I started running as part of buggy bootcamp after having my second son, Evan, in 2014. I’d always hated running and could never work out why anyone would want to run further than a mile! I quickly worked out that being a mum of 2, if I wanted to fit exercise in, it was likely at least one of the kids would be with me! My eldest son, Jack, already ran, as did my husband, so it was pretty much a case of join in or get left behind!
I joined JogScotland Dunfermline in June 2018 and by the September I was running my first half marathon! I couldn’t have done it without the support of the jog leaders and other members who were out putting in the training miles with me.
I became a Jog Leader in 2021. Restrictions on bubble sizes at that time meant our group didn’t have enough leaders to allow every member to meet in a group if they wanted to, so I signed up and took the course so more of us could continue to train together!
I’ve met some great friends through running, although my favourite running buddies are definitely still my 2 boys. You’ll likely find us all at Dunfermline parkrun on a Saturday morning, then in The Peacock Rooms having breakfast and a chat (that’s the best bit)!
